Howdy.. I had a message earlier, about two months ago,
asking for information on whether or not I should buy an 86 Savage. Well, despite all your advice, I paid 1800 for it and have ridden the hell out of the thing, put about 1500 miles in the last month on it. No problems whatsoever. I ride it everyday. Well, friend rode it for a tad bit, parked it in the garage, but turned the key to the right instead of to the left. I went to start it up the next day, and the lights would not even come on and the starter made NO noise whatsoever. So I figured the battery was drained. I hooked it up to a 12 volt charger and charged it up. The lights would come on, but the engine would not turn over. The mechanic said it needed, most likely, a new battery, as the old one was shot beyond revival. So I bought a new battery, installed it, and now the power is working, and the engine turns over VERY HEALTHILY. Yet, it will not start. Could it be the spark plugs? Is that the most likely answer? I thought that was what it was. Because I am mechanically RETARDED, I mean a total DUMMY, I have been trying to change the spark plugs by following along with the manual. It says take the seat off, then the gas tank. But wait a second. The gas tank has those gas wires connected to it. I went on kickstand side and saw that the tank is connected to the fuel switch for prime and reserve options. There was a bolt there, so I loosened it, thinking it would free the tank. As soon as it loosened, Gas was spilling all over EVERYTHING, including my face. I can't seem to find the spark plugs, the manual is a piece of shit, and I'm frustrated enough to let my Savage Ghostride down the street until it tips over into a bazillion pieces. PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks!
